Sir RINGO STAR

The Beatles drummer RINGO STARR received his Knighthood [yesterday] at Buckingham Palace during a short ceremony conducted by the Duke of Cambridge, Prince William. It was 21 years after Paul McCartney, and 53 years after The Beatles, although John Lennon later rejected the honor in protest. RINGO STARR, whose real name is Richard Starkey, was accompanied by wife Barbara Bach.

STEPHEN HAWKING : 1942/2018

O físico teórico britânico STEPHEN HAWKING faleceu hoje, com 76 anos, na sua casa em Cambridge (Reino Unido), devido a complicações da sua doença degenerativa, uma forma rara e precoce de progresso lento da doença do neurónio motor.

HUBERT de GIVENCHY: 1927/2018

O estilista e aristocrata francês - era Conde - HUBERT James Marcel Taffin de GIVENCHY, faleceu na passada sexta-feira, com 91 anos, no seu palácio nos arredores de Paris (França), durante o sono. 

HUBERT de GIVENCHY é o autor do famoso "little black dress" usado pela actriz britânica - e, posteriormente, sua amiga e musa - Audrey Hepburn no filme "Breakfast at Tiffany's" (1961); foi o estilista da ex Primeira Dama dos Estados Unidos da América, Jacqueline Kennedy; da Princesa do Mónaco, Grace Kelly; e a Duquesa de Windsor, Wallis Spencer Simpson; e foi também o primeiro estilista a fazer, e a vender, pronto-a-vestir de luxo. 

Em 1995 HUBERT de GIVENCHY retirou-se da moda mas não da arte, e dedicou-se às antiguidades na leiloeira Christie's, no Palácio de Versailles e no museu do Louvre.

BERLINALE 2018: homage and honorary golden bear for american actor WILLEM DAFOE

«The 68th edition of the Berlin International Film Festival is dedicating this year’s Homage to American film and theatre actor Willem Dafoe and presenting him with an Honorary Golden Bear in recognition of his life’s work. Willem Dafoe has participated in more than 100 film productions, enriching them with his expressive performances and formidable presence. His enormous technical range as an actor extends all the way from the personification of the unfathomably evil to the portrayal of Jesus of Nazareth. In addition to his celebrated cinematic appearances, Dafoe has also pursued a parallel career in theatre, his other passion. “Willem Dafoe is a close friend of the festival and has often been a guest at the Berlinale in the past in the scope of film screenings and even as a member of the International Jury in 2007,” comments Festival Director Dieter Kosslick. “I am really looking forward now to welcoming him to the 2018 edition of the festival as a guest of honour and recognising his lifetime achievement with the Honorary Golden Bear.”» in Berlinale Press
